Abercrombie & Kent Launching First Ship on the Amazon
On the other side of the world, and on an equally evocative waterway, Abercrombie & Kent has announced the spring, 2025 launch of its new Peruvian riverboat. Yet to be named, the elegantly-designed vessel is A&K’s first in South America.
A&K is not new to the continent; it’s been operating its ultra-luxury land tours there for 25 years, with a host of expertise in the Amazon's unique biodiversity and cultural heritage. The company's decades of experience in upscale river cruising on the Nile River, combined with the maritime legacy of owner Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio's family (who founded and owned Silversea Cruises until its purchase by the Royal Caribbean Group), ensures that this new Amazon riverboat will offer guests both luxury and unforgettable local immersion into the Amazon's landscapes and rich culture.
The new riverboat showcases sophisticated design, local materials and artistry, and breathtaking views of the river and shores via floor-to-ceiling windows. It features 10 double cabins and two single cabins. The outdoor swimming pool, massage room and gym offer space to relax. Spa treatments and wellness experiences are inspired by Amazonian traditions. Menus onboard are both sophisticated and celebrate the diverse culinary heritage of the Amazon. And a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio ensures personalized attention and service that is the hallmark of A&K.
3- and 4-night itineraries ensure guests experience the beauty and diverse cultures of the Amazon, and can be combined into an immersive 7-night experience.
The riverboat's itineraries delve into the heart of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, where guests embark in search of encounters with the Amazon's iconic landscapes, wildlife, from the elusive pink river dolphins to three-toed sloths and myriad bird species, to indigenous communities.
Guests may visit local schools supported by the company, engage with community members, and learn about traditional ways of life. The company supports sustainable, locally-focused tourism that benefits host communities.
Eco-friendly skiffs ensure responsible and intimate exploration. From fishing in the black waters of the Samiria River to jungle walks under the dense canopy, excursions offer unparalleled access to the rainforest's marvels. Kayak or canoe excursions, stargazing experiences on the upper deck and sundowners or breakfasts enjoyed aboard the skiffs create unforgettable moments amidst the Amazon's untamed beauty. All while surrounded by A&K luxuries and service.
